Morning routine for a 6:45am shift
A 6:45am start leaves very little room in the morning, so most of the work happens the night before. Here's a sample timeline you can adjust to your own commute and get-ready time.
Sample timeline
This example assumes 35 minutes to get ready, a 20-minute commute and arriving 15 minutes early. Change any of those and every time above "Arrive" moves by the same amount. The shift routine builder does that maths for you.
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 5:35 am | Alarm goes off |
| 5:40 am | Water, bathroom, lights on |
| 5:50 am | Shower and get dressed (clothes laid out last night) |
| 5:55 am | Breakfast you can eat in 10 minutes, or pack it |
| 6:07 am | Grab the packed bag, lunch and water bottle |
| 6:10 am | Leave home |
| 6:30 am | Arrive, park, walk in |
| 6:45 am | Shift starts |
The night before
Notes for a 6:45am start
- A 6:45 start usually means a 7am handoff with time to get settled, so treat 6:45 as the real start time, not 7.
- Fifteen minutes earlier than a 7am start sounds small, but it often moves the alarm into the 5 o'clock hour. Moving one task (like packing lunch) to the night before buys most of it back.
- If you drive, check fuel the night before. Stopping for gas is the most common surprise on early starts.
