Teacher morning routine before school
Teachers can't run five minutes late; the bell decides. A short routine, with most of the work done the night before, keeps the morning calm.
Sample timeline for a 7:45am arrival
Assumes about 50 minutes from alarm to leaving and a 20-minute commute, arriving 45 minutes before an 8:30 first bell. Adjust with the wake-up time calculator.
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 6:35 am | Alarm, water, lights on |
| 6:45 am | Shower and get dressed |
| 7:05 am | Breakfast and coffee |
| 7:20 am | Grab the packed bag, lunch and keys |
| 7:25 am | Leave home |
| 7:45 am | Arrive at school |
| 8:00 am | Copies, set up the room, write the day on the board |
| 8:25 am | Students arrive |
The night before
The 30 minutes before students arrive
- Unlock, lights on, open blinds.
- Put the day's agenda and first task on the board.
- Get copies and materials out in the order you'll use them.
- Check email once for anything urgent (cover, schedule changes), then close it.
- Water bottle filled, coffee in hand, door open.
On early duty days
Move everything up by the length of your duty and do your room setup the afternoon before. A separate early duty checklist (coat, duty vest, whistle) saves a trip back to your room.
